These Directives include language that permits gay men and lesbians to appoint their partner (or another person) to make medical and financial decisions for them when they are not able to do so for themselves. The documents include a hospital visitation clause so that partners are not prevented from seeing one another by hostile family members or homophobic medical personnel. |
